Breaking: Sars To Sell Shauwn Mkhize's Royal Am Over Tax Debt

The South African Revenue Service SARS will sell Premier Soccer League PSL club Royal AM, which is owned by entrepreneur Shauwn MaMkhize Mkhize , in a bid to recover alleged tax debt.
The club has been under curatorship following a court-granted preservation order obtained by SARS against several properties owned by MaMkhize last year.
SARS set to sell Royal AMBroadcaster Andile Ncube and SABC Sport journalist Mazola J. Molefe reported on Monday 17 February that SARS had won the battle for Royal AM.
A sad day for our football. After months of speculations, it's done. SARS have won and Royal AM will be sold, Ncube wrote on X .
Royal AM and SARS have been locked in court battles as MaMkhize made efforts to ensure the club honours its Betway Premiership and Nedbank Cup fixtures.
On 29 January, it launched an urgent court application seeking to compel the curator to issue a letter of comfort to the National Soccer League NSL guaranteeing the clubs financial ability to fulfil its fixtures.
Alternatively, it sought to compel NSL to allow it to play the rest of the seasons PSL and Nedbank Cup fixtures. However, the court ruled that the application was not urgent and struck it off the roll, with costs. It did not deal with the merits of the application.
"SARS is pleased with the court's decision to strike the matter from the court's roll for lack of urgency. Taxpayers have a legal obligation to all at times fulfil this without fail and remain compliant with their tax affairs, Commissioner Edward Kieswetter said in a media statement .
The preservation order against the club is linked to MaMkhizes alleged tax woes. It is alleged that she and others owe SARS R40 million. In November last year, SARS raided Mkhize's Umhlanga residence as part of its "effort to combat tax evasion."
Its unclear how the latest news affects the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal draw, which the PSL was set to hold on Monday evening.
