The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON qualifier between Botswana and Egypt has been delayed by three hours, the Confederation of African Football CAF has announced.
The Group C match was originally scheduled to kick-off on Tuesday at 1500 CAT but the game was delayed following a request from the Botswana Football Association BFA, as the team was stranded in Mauritania.
The Zebras suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Mauritania on Saturday in their opening match of the 2025 qualifiers, and they were expected to depart the country after the match.
However, the team was forced to remain in Mauritania due to logistical issues that delayed their return.
Despite these delays, we want to assure the nation and supporters that the team remains in high spirits and is committed to giving their best performance, The BFA statement said.
