Bonginkosi Khanyile's Defiant Message After Being Arrested

uMkhonto weSizwe MK Party member Bonginkosi Khanyile says he has no regrets participating in the free Jacob Zuma campaign following his arrest for reportedly failing to appear in court.

Khanyile was due to appear at the Durban magistrates court on Monday 3 March to face charges of incitement to commit public violence and contravention of the Disaster Management Act.

The charges are linked to his alleged involvement in July 2021 unrest that followed former President Jacob Zumas incarceration.

Bonginkosi Khanyile arrested

Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, the National Prosecuting Authoritys NPA spokesperson in KwaZulu-Natal, confirmed on Tuesday that Khanyile was in custody after allegedly skipping his court appearance on Monday and failing to communicate reasons for his absence, News24 reported .

In a post on X on Sunday, Khanyile indicated that he would attend the start of his trial, adding that he would plead not guilty.

Defiant

However, in another post on Tuesday, Khanyile seemingly confirmed his arrest to his followers. Brothers and sisters, comrades and commanders, our suffering, pain, discrimination, subjugation and suppression is only temporary. It will come to an end, he wrote.

The future of our homeland is promising. It is bright and it is exciting. We just need to be patient. We need to be resilient and consistent in our pursuit for justice.

For the record I have no regrets for participating in the free Jacob Zuma campaign, primarily and fundamentally because the arrest was unjust and unconstitutional. No intimidation, unjust arrest and imprisonment will ever shake, deter and or move me.

In the words of O.R Tambo, I therefore state that the future is bright. The end is glorious it is peaceful. But the intervening period is dark, bitter and finds its glory in the act of struggle. We are all part of this glory because our lives are exclusively one of struggle for ourselves as a people, for Africa, and for mankind! One day all of us shall be fineall of us. Until we meet again GOODBYE. Izwelethu.

MK Party had not reacted to his arrest at the time of publishing.
