The body of a young boy has been recovered in a sewer drainage in Freedom Park, south of Johannesburg. This is after the City of Johannesburg Emergency Services joined the search and rescue operation led by the Soweto K9 Unit on Friday morning.
On arrival, EMS extracted water and sewer from the drainage, leading to the recovery of the little boy.
EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo is pleading with Johannesburg residents to safeguard children at all times.
A case of a missing child was opened yesterday evening at Eldorado Park Police Station at half past eight. The boy is said to have been playing with his friends yesterday afternoon when he went missing. EMS continues to plead with the parents of children to please ensure that children are safeguarded at all times, please teach them not to play in water drainages, warns Khumalo.
