The small business community has welcomed the week-long activities in Bloemfontein that have contributed to their businesses. This is because of the two major music, dance, and entertainment events, the Lemo Festival and Cufa Festival .
For the past years, this time of the year, the City of Roses plays host to music lovers during the Mangaung Cultural Festival. Unfortunately , t he event was halted by the provincial government.
However, two new events have filled the gap left by Macufe, bringing relief to hawkers who rely on such events to make a profit. Some of the hawkers had this to say
It helped us in terms of job creation and crime prevention due to the lack of jobs that we have in Bloemfontein. So, it was successful and uplifting, says a hawker.
This week the business has been very good as compared with the previous week. We are coming from various activities, and it was a very busy week. Its only today at the Cufa Cup we dont know what is going to happen. But anyhow we are satisfied," adds another hawker.
