Big Signing Chance For Psl Clubs As Thabo Cele Returns To South Africa

Russian Premier League club FC Fakel Voronezh has released highly rated South African midfielder Thabo Cele from his current contract, citing health problems in his family.

As part of their mutual agreement, Cele can only play in South Africa until the end of his contract in June this year. This presents an opportunity for top local clubs to sign him.

Due to serious health problems in the family, the midfielder and the club terminated the contract, a translation of Fakels statement on Wednesday 22 January reads.

The 28-year-old KwaMashu-born star featured for Bafana Bafana five times in 2017 under the then coach Stuart Baxter, making his senior debut at just 20 years old. He also played for South Africas Under 20, Under 23 and Olympics teams.

The right-footed defensive midfielder has made nine appearances for Fakel this season.

With just a week left in the local transfer window, there is speculation that some of the top Premier Soccer League PSL sides may snap him up.

Cele has been previously linked to a move to Kaizer Chiefs , who are currently having another inconsistent season and are under pressure to strengthen their squad.
