Barca Defender Martinez Sidelined For Four Weeks

Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez is set to miss four weeks with a hamstring injury, the Catalan club said Tuesday.

Centre-back Martinez sustained the problem in Barcas 5-2 Spanish Super Cup win over Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Tests carried out on Tuesday morning have shown Martinez has a right hamstring injury. He will be out for around four weeks, said Barcelona in a statement.

Ronald Araujo, who replaced him against Madrid, is set to step into the gap amid speculation about a potential move to Italian side Juventus.

Martinez, 33, has become a key figure in defence for Barcelona this season under coach Hansi Flick.
