The bail application of a 43-year-old police officer who allegedly killed six people for insurance claims has been postponed to 30 October in the Polokwane Magistrates Court.

Sergeant Rachel Kutumela appeared in court with two co-accused. Her daughter Flora Shokane and her sister Anna have been charged with money laundering.

Kutumela allegedly claimed more than R10 million during her killing spree that started in 2019.

Magistrate Thivhaisali Netshiozwi says the bail hearing will take three days.

"With regard to accused number two and number three, I'm informed by the Public Prosecutor that the accused should not be granted bail, instead they should be in custody. We have agreed that this matter should be postponed to a further date which will not be one date but more than a day. It will be the 30th and the 31st of October 2024 and as well the first of November 2024, those are the dates in which this bail application will be heard."
