atm praises mpumalanga operation in arrest of 95 libyan nationals

The African Transformation Movement (ATM) has praised the joint operation conducted in Mpumalanga to apprehend 95 Libyan nationals at a military camp.

The party says this confirms that certain activities are occurring in the country that have the potential to undermine its sovereignty.

ATM spokesperson Zama Tshona says one of the partys other concerns is that R6.3 billion is being wired from South Africa to other countries such as Kenya, Somalia, Nigeria and Bangladesh through mobile cards that are not registered.

This alarming trend indicates a significant lack of effective controls and monitoring mechanisms which allow such illegal activities to persist. The fact that South Africa has been placed on the greylist by the financial action task force in February 2023 further emphasises the gravity of the threat not only to our country but also to the global community. This classification further highlights the classification calls for immediate action to address the deficiencies in our system.
