Atm Calls On Sa To Prepare For An Influx Of Refugees Fleeing Mozambique
The African Transformation Movement ATM has called on the South African government to prepare for an influx of refugees fleeing the turmoil in Mozambique, reports Cape town Etc .
The party said in a media release that South Africa must develop a swift response to the developing crisis in the neighbouring country.
Mozambiques Constitutional Council on Monday confirmed the electoral outcome from the October elections and validated Frelimo as the winner and Daniel Chapo as president.
A total of 1 534 prisoners escaped from a Maputo prison Wednesday, taking advantage of the third day of unrest triggered by the controversial confirmation of the long-ruling Frelimo party as the winner of recent elections.
ATM says the elections, tainted by vote tampering, restricted opposition access, and misuse of state resources, have undermined democracy and triggered widespread protests and violence.
