Athlete Bayanda Walaza Receives Ieb Results
Bayanda Walaza had some nervous moments last year when he competed on the world stage. He was part of the 4 by 100-meter team, who won silver at the Olympics in Paris. Walaza also won the 100 and 200-meters titles at the junior world championship in South America.
But he says opening his matric results envelope was different.
"I think everybody that was doing matric was nervous. I even saw the posts that everybody is nervous but when we are counting down, when we were opening this thing, it feels different. It was truly scary, but I'm impressed it was the same nerves as on the track, but at Paris I could control it, but this one was too scary," says Walaza.
Walaza will continue his studies in South Africa and his results have inspired him to better on and off the track.
"With these results, I hope it will push me to what I want to achieve this year. I want to study Logistics and my goals on the track is to be one of the best athletes South Africa have ever produced. I want to show up for the country and fight for the country. Fighting is not just going to war, but representing it. So, I will continue to study. God gave me this gift and nothings going to stop me now," says Walaza.
