Frieda Toranzo Jaeger's Jewish grandfather fled Nazi Germany to escape the Holocaust and settled in Mexico, where she was born in 1988 and grew up.
Toranzo Jaeger attended the German School in Mexico City and later studied art in Germany. She lived in Berlin for almost nine years before returning to Mexico during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now divides her time between the two countries.
Last month, Toranzo Jaeger, whose work related to Palestine was prominently featured at the Venice Biennale this year, was invited to exhibit at the Leopold-Hoesch-Museum in Dren, Germany.
Additionally, she was awarded a 19,000 stipend by the private Gnther Peill Foundation, providing financial support for the next two years. Toranzo Jaeger also received 10,500 to produce a catalogue for the exhibition, which is scheduled for 2026
