Arne Slot Voids Complaints Over Jota's Offside Goal In Liverpool Victory

Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed his frustration with the offside rule that led to Diogo Jota's match-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Everton on Wednesday. Jota's goal came just before the hour mark, putting Liverpool 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League.
The controversy arose from Luis Diaz being in an offside position when James Tarkowski intercepted a pass intended for him. However, Diaz quickly pounced on the loose ball, setting up Jota to score. While Everton manager David Moyes felt the goal should have been disallowed, Slot acknowledged that the decision was correct under the current rules, as Tarkowski had deliberately played the ball.
"I hate the rule, but the decision was correct according to the rules," Slot said, expressing his displeasure with the offside law but praising the officials for their execution.
The match also saw controversy surrounding Tarkowski's early challenge on Alexis Mac Allister. The Everton captain only received a yellow card for what many, including pundit Gary Neville, described as a potentially dangerous tackle. Moyes admitted his team was fortunate Tarkowski wasn't sent off, acknowledging the challenge looked high and risky.
