Argentina Kicks Off Trial Into Death Of Soccer Star Diego Maradona

The long-awaited trial of Diego Maradonas medical team began on Tuesday in Argentina.

Its a case that has sparked strong emotions in the country where the soccer star, who died in 2020, is revered.

Seven members of the medical team were in court, with an eighth facing a jury trial in July.

Maradonas nurses, brain surgeon and psychiatrist are among those accused of homicide by negligence.

If convicted, they could face eight to 25 years in prison.
