The alarming situation prompted a team member to send an urgent email to authorities, detailing the severity of the situation and expressing concerns for their safety.

In response, the South African Ministry of Environment, overseeing the mission, intervened, offering remote counselling and mediation. Despite the serious allegations, the accused has shown remorse, participated in further evaluations, and even issued an apology to the victim.
