Ancyl In Mbombela Demands Municipality Fills General Workers Posts
The African National Congress Youth League ANCYL in Mpumalanga has criticised the Mbombela Local Municipality for failing to appoint general workers despite having received thousands of applications.
The League says thousands of unemployed youth have applied for vacancies at the municipality, however, its been eight months since the positions were advertised and applicants have yet to receive feedback from the municipality.
The Youth League in Ehlanzeni is today expected to march to the City of Mbombela to demand that the municipality fill the positions.
ANCYLs Ehlanzeni Region Chairperson, Cabanga Maluleka, says the process of hiring people needs to start as soon a s possible.
Why is this process of simply appointing general workers taking so long? Because the issue of high unemployment is a serious crisis in Mpumalanga. And these are funded posts that theres a budget for it. So we are of the belief that there will not be any financial burden in the municipality because the funding is already there. Now the process that we are seeking that the municipality ought to deal with urgently is the process of appointing these general workers, to kick start the process of shortlisting, calling people for interviews, and to hire people.
