The African National Congress Women's League ANCWL is organizing a march to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest gender-based violence and femicide. The march is part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, which aims to end violence against women and children.
Nokuthula Nqaba, the leagues secretary-general, emphasized that they are calling for decisive action to address gender-based violence. She stated that, in response to the ongoing violence against women in South Africa, the Women's League, in collaboration with various organizations - including mass democratic structures, their alliance partners, the progressive women's movement, faith-based organizations, civil society, and other political groups - has decided to intensify efforts for stronger national prevention strategies and their implementation.
