Anc Womens League Says Gbv Should Be Declared A National Disaster

National Secretary-General of the ANC Womens League, Nokuthula Nqaba says GBV should be declared as a national disaster .

Speaking during a Womens League march in Cape Town, Nqaba said gender-based violence and femicide is a pandemic and nothing is being done in terms of an action plan.

What then stops government to declare GBV as a national disaster becauseit then becomes a national disaster everyone we expect to be on standstill. Each department to deliberately focusing to the laws of this country in terms of the implementation. We dont need any strategies anymore. We dont need meetings to be conducted. We were promised two years ago there will be a session that talks to issues of GBV by our president. It didnt happen because those that are below him that are supposed to implement this commitment and decisions, they are not doing that, they are sleeping in their offices.
