Anc Will Not Conform To Das Demands: Bhengu-motsiri

The African National Congress ANC says it will not conform to the Democratic Alliances DA demands just to garner the partys support for the proposed budget which the National Assembly will vote on today.
The ANC says the DA is willing to support the 0.5 percentage point increase in Value-Added Tax provided that transformation-related legislation is reversed.
The ANC says it will not back down on transformation.
The partys national spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says, A number of demands that the DA had made are matters that are not within the purview of the budget. Are matters related to transformation policies of our countrys redress policies? Even in the statement of intent, to which they appended the signature of the DA - theres a very clear expression there. Theres a clause that refers to the fact getting into GNU, we going to continue with the task of transforming South Africa. So I find it very curious that we can use the budget to negotiate for things that are outside the budget.
Meanwhile, yesterday the Standing Committee on Finance adopted its report on the fiscal framework, which will be tabled and debated in the House today.
