Anc To Collaborate With U.s. Leadership Regardless Of Election Outcome
The ANC has stated that it will not speculate on the results of the upcoming US elections and will collaborate with whoever emerges victorious in the presidential race, Cape town Etc reports.
This was emphasised by ANC deputy secretary-general Nomvula Mokonyane during a press briefing following the party's recent international relations retreat in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni.
As Americans prepare to vote in a contest between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, Mokonyane remarked that South Africas relationship with the US is driven by national interests rather than the political party in power. She expressed hope for a democratic outcome in the US elections.
Mokonyane stated, We will engage with the elected leader because it is crucial for us to maintain relations that benefit our national interests, promote inclusive growth, combat poverty, and create better economic opportunities for marginalised groups.
She stressed the importance of allowing Americans to decide their leader through the electoral process, reiterating that South Africas foreign policy towards the US is based on its own national interests.
