The African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa says the party must prioritise inclusive growth to create employment, to reduce poverty and inequality. This is as Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Premiers and Executive Mayors have all gathered in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni in an effort to refine and expand on the partys six key priorities.

Ramaphosa was addressing the opening of the ANC NEC Lekgotla today.

The ANC leader says this can only be achieved through the growth of the economy.

Together as the Alliance, we must confront the fact that our economy has barely grown over the last 14 years. Between 2010 to 2024, the average annual GDP growth rate was 1.2% a year. This was lower than the rate of population growth over that period.

Job creation, strengthening local government, and the accountability of ANC deployees took centre stage on the first day of the meeting.
