Anc, Mk Veterans Join Calls For Inquiry Into Chris Hanis Death
The African National Congress ANC, along with the South African Communist Party SACP and the family of Chris Hani, has called on the government to open an inquest into the assassination of Hani, who was the SACP general secretary. Hani was tragically murdered at his home in Boksburg, Johannesburg, in April 1993.
His convicted killer, Janusz Walus, is set to arrive in his home country of Poland today. Walus departed from South Africa on a flight from O.R. Tambo International Airport last night, following the government's announcement of his deportation.
ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula addressed the media in Johannesburg, stating that Walus has not fully revealed the true motive behind the murder. The call for an inquest underscores the continued desire for clarity and justice surrounding the assassination of the prominent anti-apartheid leader.
