Anc Has Decided To Bring Other Parties Into Gnu, Paul Mashatile Confirms

Deputy President Paul Mashatile has confirmed that the African National Congress ANC has decided to reconfigure the government of national unity GNU.
This is a more emphatic confirmation compared to the statement ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula read at a media briefing earlier this week.
The NWC National Working Committee resolved that there is a need to continue to engage with all GNU partners and all political parties. We remain committed to the GNU as a tactical element, but its integrity cannot be compromised, Mbalula said.
In light of current developments, the NWC resolved that we will reset a button to engage with all political parties in the GNU.
Paul Mashatile on GNUs reconfigurationSpeaking at a commemoration event for the late South African Communist Party SACP leader Chris Hani on Thursday 10 April, Mashatile was more direct .
The leadership of the ANC, after what happened recently, decided that we are going to reconfigure the GNU to ensure that we bring other parties on board, he said.
The Deputy President emphasised that the GNU is not a coalition between the ANC and the Democratic Alliance DA.
The GNU has had a lot of challenges in the past, but those did not lead to its collapse. The reason is that we continue to consider the GNU as an agreement, not between two parties, but of 10 parties.
The ANC and DA, the two largest parties in the GNU, has clashed on several policy issues, such as the Expropriation Act, National Health Insurance and Basic Education Laws Amendment Act.
However, it is the DAs refusal to vote for the budgets fiscal framework in Parliament last week that drove the ANC to decide on reconfiguration.
