The African National Congress ANC has reaffirmed its confidence in the Free State's Provincial Executive Committee PEC. The party's National Working Committee NWC wrapped up its three-day visit to the province.

Addressing the media in Bloemfontein on Monday, the ANC Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula, emphasises that the Free State, unlike Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, has managed to retain its slight majority after the 2024 general elections, despite the party taking a significant knock nationally.

Mbalula says the PEC has been given a mandate to unite the party.

"The recent engagements by the National Working Committee with ANC structures in the province reaffirm the movements' commitments to address these concerns head on and rebuilding the trust with communities."

"We equally reaffirm our confidence in the leadership of the ANC in the province, led by Mxolisi Dukwana as the chairperson and Polediso Motsoeneng as the provincial secretary. The ANC recognises the serious service delivery challenges facing many communities in the Free State," he adds.
