The African National Congress ANC, Democratic Alliance DA and Patriotic Alliance PA are contesting by-elections in Karoo Hoogland Municipality in Northern Cape.
The highly contested ward 1 in Williston previously represented by the DA became vacant, after a councillor resigned.
No party has an outright majority in council.
In the 2021 local government elections the ANC received 40.48 of the votes, DA 30.16 and PA 22.08.
