A 50-year-old man, who is believed to be an alleged serial rapist and murderer, is expected to appear before Molopo Magistrates Court on Monday.
The suspect was arrested at his residential place at Makhubung near Mahikeng on Friday after he was linked to the rape and murder case of 42-year-old Neo Kgabanakgosi.
According to initial reports, Kgabanakgosis naked, lifeless body was discovered by a passer-by on September 7, in the bushes at Danville in Mahikeng. The passer-by immediately alerted the police. The victim was declared dead on the scene by Emergency and Medical Rescue Services.
Police spokesperson, Adele Myburgh elaborates, "According to investigations, a witness saw when the suspect picked up the victim with a car during the late hours of Friday night September 6, a day prior to when she was found murdered.
Four more victims, who allegedly survived sexual and physical assaults by the same suspect, came forward to report it to the police. The possibility of linking the suspect to multiple cases of the same nature, where females were found raped, murdered and their bodies dumped in the bushes around Mahikeng, cant be ruled out."
