Former Paris Saint-Germain and France defender Layvin Kurzawa has been linked with a move to Cairo giants Al Ahly this summer. Kurzawa, 31, is currently a free agent after his contract with PSG expired earlier this summer, putting an end to a nine-year spell with the Parisian club. The left-back had a difficult last three seasons, making just eight appearances, two for PSG, and six for Premier League side Fulham, where he spent the 2022/23 season on loan. Hoping to reignite his career, Layvin Kurzawa is currently in talks with several clubs over a summer move, including African champions Al Ahly, who are known to be keen on filling the void at left-back following the injury of Ali Maaloul. French publication Foot Mercato revealed that the Reds entered talks with Kurzawa as well as Turkish outfit Eyupspor, Serie A club Torino, and an unnamed Qatari club. The report added the player is also in talks with an unnamed Ligue 1 club as he wont rush to decide on his future and a new challenge that meets his expectations. Layvin Kurzawa began his career at AS Monaco, before moving to PSG in the summer of 2015 for a reported fee of €25 million, where he played for nine years, while also spending one season out on loan at Fulham. Currently valued at €1.8 million by Transfermarkt, Kurzawa made 154 appearances for PSG, 97 for AS Monaco, and six for Fulham in which in total he scored 25 goals and assisted 33 times. During his time in Paris, Kurzawa won 20 different trophies, including five Ligue 1 titles, five French Cups, four French League Cups, and six French Super Cups. He was also part of the PSG team that reached the 2020 UEFA Champions League final, featuring against Bayern Munich in the final, which his side lost 1-0, thanks to Kingsley Comans header. On the international level, Kurzawa has 13 French caps, scoring once in a 3-1 friendly victory over Italy back in 2016.
