Ajax Coach Francesco Fariolis Desires Could Halt Chuba Akpoms Proposed Ligue 1 Move
Ajax coach Francesco Farioli has made it clear that he does not want any of his players to leave in January, despite ongoing rumors linking Nigerian forward Chuba Akpom with a move to Ligue 1, according to Soccernet.ng.
Akpom has struggled for consistent game time at Ajax this season. Under Farioli, the forward has made 27 appearances across all competitions, but many of these have been as a substitute. His limited minutes have led to speculation about a potential transfer to France, with previous links to Ligue 1 clubs emerging last summer.
However, Farioli has reiterated that he intends to keep all of his players until the end of the season, suggesting that Akpom is unlikely to be allowed to leave in the January transfer window.
Should Akpom's situation not improve and his playing time remain limited, a move away from Amsterdam could be a possibility to secure more regular first-team action. Nonetheless, Ajax holds the upper hand in any negotiations, as Akpom still has three years left on his contract.
