Independent regional airline Airlink is proceeding with plans to launch direct Cape Town-Gaborone flights from April 1 next year.
This follows confirmation by regulatory authorities in Botswana and South Africa that all of the necessary approvals are in place to allow Airlink to serve the route.
We appreciate both governments aeronautical regulatory bodies for resolving the matter so that Airlink can do what it does best, which is connecting people and markets by providing reliable and convenient flights with great service. We have reinstated the flights in the global reservations system, which lets customers make reservations for flights on the route, said Airlink CEO and Managing Director Rodger Foster .
Gaborone and Cape Town are important destinations for business and leisure travel. We have seen rising interest and demand from local and international long haul customers for an Airlink direct service between the two cities.
Airlink will deploy 44-seat Embraer E140 regional jets on the route. Fares will include a 20kg free economy class checked-in luggage allowance plus a 15kg sporting equipment allowance. Full fare economy (Y class) tickets will include a 30kg complimentary luggage allowance. On board, customers will be treated to a complimentary light meal and refreshments.
