Afriforum And Solidarity Do Not Represent All Afrikaners, Anc Says

Civil society groups AfriForum and Solidarity do not represent all Afrikaners, African National Congress ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says.

The two groups have sparked renewed criticism following their alleged meeting with representatives of US President Donald Trump s administration at the White House earlier this week.

They claimed to have presented a memorandum to the Trump administration calling for, among others, pressure on ANC leaders to revise policies such as Expropriation Act and Basic Education Laws Amendment Act.

Bhengu-Motsiri described their actions as highly divisive and unpatriotic.

Their memorandum to the US and their actions are not only ahistoric, as they conveniently forget centuries of colonialism and years of apartheid, but also outright lies to justify their racist sense of entitlement, she added.

However, they do not represent all Afrikaners. There are countless who have distanced themselves from these groups and their actions. We therefore call on all South Africans to isolate these right-wing racists and focus on tackling our challenges together as a resilient nation, working with our communities.

Bhengu-Motsiri asserted that the government alone has the authority to engage on behalf of the South African people with any other government.

uMkhonto weSizwe Party recently laid treason charges against AfriForum.

The Economic Freedom Fighters has also called on the government to designate the groups as domestic terrorist organisations actively working against the interests of the republic by spreading lies and misinformation across borders.

However, the ANC believes the government would be wasting valuable time to address national challenges and turning these racists into martyrs by charging them for treason.
