Afriforum A 'fringe Group Of Right Wingers:' Fw De Klerk Foundation
The FW de Klerk Foundation has described civil rights group AfriForum as a small, fringe group of right wingers that is badmouthing South Africa on the international stage.
An international campaign by AfriForum and the Solidarity Movement has been blamed for US President Donald Trump s recent decision to cut aid to South Africa.
In his latest post on Truth Social on Friday March 7, Trump repeated false claims that South Africa is confiscating land.
South Africa is being terrible, plus, to long time Farmers in the country. They are confiscating their LAND and FARMS, and MUCH WORSE THAN THAT. A bad place to be right now, and we are stopping all Federal Funding, he wrote.
To go a step further, any Farmer with family! from South Africa, seeking to flee that country for reasons of safety, will be invited into the United States of America with a rapid pathway to Citizenship. This process will begin immediately!
FW de Klerk Foundation on Trump and AfriForumReacting to Trumps post, the Foundations Executive Director Christo van der Rheede said farmers are being used for cheap politicking.
Is this guy crazy or is there a bigger agenda at play! Our farmers are being used for cheap politicking! I know many decent, hardworking and loyal farmers throughout South Africa, and they don't deserve to be subjected and exposed to this type of hysteria and utter nonsense! van der Rheede wrote on Facebook .
In a subsequent interview with SABC News on Saturday, he called on political parties to refrain from spewing all kinds of racial rhetoric.
He added that the majority of farmers have goodwill and have made significant contributions in their communities. So, who is this small fringe group of right wingers? he asked.
Who gave them the right to go out there to badmouth South Africa and expose our farmers to hatred and racial conflict? We dont need that. We need a united stance against crime and all other issues that affect us, van der Rheede said.
