Benin Republic coach, Gernot Rohr, has named three players who helped the Super Eagles defeat his team 3-0 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Saturday.
Rohrs side had defeated Nigeria in June during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers but were thrashed at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Benin defended well against Nigeria for almost the entire first half, but their resilience was broken by a moment of individual brilliance from 2024 Ballon dOr nominee, Ademola Lookman.
Substitute Victor Osimhen then added the second goal in the second half before Lookman made it three for Augustine Eguavoens men.
Speaking at his post-match interview, Rohr admitted that substitutes Osimhen, Moses Simon, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru played key roles in Nigeria's victory over Benin.
