ActionSAs change of heart in working with the ANC does not come as a surprise. At least, that is according to political analyst, Dr Levy Ndou, following recent remarks by the party leader, Herman Mashaba that he was talking to the ANC about the possibility of working with them in Gauteng - an about-turn from previous public utterances by Mashaba saying he would never work with the ANC because, according to him, the party was corrupt to the core.
"They still feel aggrieved by the DA, the IFP and other political parties for having joined the GNU and for ActionSA to still play a meaningful role in the South African body politics the best for them, in my view, that is why they have open talks with the ANC," says Ndou, stating that ActionSA feels politically isolated.
"Some of the parties who were in the moonshot pact are now actively participating in the Government of National Unity and ActionSA is isolated and lonely and not having a huge impact in the South African politics."
Speaking to the SABC News on the sidelines of the Opening of Parliament on Thursday, revealed there were ongoing talks between ActionSA and the ANC in Gauteng province. The party occupies six seats in parliament..
"Yes, absolutely, I am really talking to the ANC to see how we can best stabilize the metros of Gauteng, because it's really very critical."
