Actionsa Calls For Ntshavhenis Suspension
ActionSA has joined the DA in calling for the suspension of Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni over allegations of her involvement in a R2.5 million tender corruption scandal during her tenure as Municipal Manager of Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality.
The African National Congress ANC has defended Ntshavheni, stating that no formal charges have been brought against her.
ActionSA Parliamentary Caucus Leader Athol Trollip criticised the government's handling of corruption allegations.
"The only way you can stamp out corruption is to deal with it decisively and uproot it, and what weve seen under Cyril Ramaphosa is that theres a lot of soft soaping and back paddling when it comes to allegations of corruption-especially in his c=Cabinet."
Trollip further cited examples of perceived inaction, "Theres the example of Dr Zweli Mkhize, from the Digital Vibes days, still absolutely nothing has happened to him- except the whistleblower was murdered and nothing else has happened. Weve seen the former Minister of Justice simply being moved to another department under a cloud of terrible corruption. And now weve got a Minister thats very close to the President and the only action we see is inaction," he says.
