Acdp Supports Sas Engagement With Trump Over Trade Concerns
African Christian Democratic Party ACDP leader in parliament Reverend Kenneth Meshoe says his party supports the South African governments intention to send a delegation to engage with the Trump administration.
This follows the signing of an Executive Order by President Donald Trump which might complicate trade relations with South Africa.
The move also allows refugee status to the Afrikaner community who reside in South Africa following Trumps questioning of South Africas Expropriation Act.
Meshoe says any delay in engaging with the US government would have ripple effects on South Africas economy.
The ACDP supports government plan to send a delegation to the US to meet with the new US administration. In an effort to iron out their differences and improve relations. We need AGOA and duty-free access to that market. And AGOA goods to help stimulate our economic growth. I want to appeal to members of this house to show maturity in bilateral with the US and others. And overcome the temptation of playing a tit for tat with them because that will not bring us any economic benefits.
