The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, has said that the November 2 local government election in the state would not be conducted with Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) because of its disappointing nature.
The Chairman of ABSIEC, Professor George Chima, disclosed this on Saturday while officially unveiling the timetable for the local government poll.
We know what happened to BVAS, we are not using BVAS, he said.
Chima added that the election will be free and transparent, assuring that the will of Abia voters will be reflected in the outcome.
Noting that adequate security would be deployed for the elections, he assured that officials of the agency are prepared to discharge their duties creditably.
