A Strong Kaizer Chiefs Is Important For Sa Football, Says Shaun Bartlett
As a former Kaizer Chiefs player, Shaun Bartlett was initially encouraged by the strong start the club made to the current Betway Premiership season, with two consecutive wins under new coach Nasreddine Nabi.
However, since then, the team's form has dipped, with just one win from their last seven matches, leaving Chiefs in ninth place on the league table after nine games.
Bartlett, who spent two seasons at the Soweto Giants from 2006 before moving to English club Charlton Athletic for five years, is now 52. He believes the success of Kaizer Chiefs is closely tied to the popularity of football in South Africa.
I think its very important for a strong Chiefs to compete in the league, Bartlett told SportsBoom.com. Its just unfortunate that theyve had this little blip in the season so far.
