Tucked away between Table Mountain and Constantias vineyards , in the heart of Upper Wynberg, lies the Palm House Boutique Hotel and Spa, an urban hideaway set apart from the frenetic bustle of the city but close enough to relish the views.

Following a recent transformation after the stately home-turned-boutique-hotel fell into new ownership by Max Jong and Shelagh Wood, the Palm House now offers a serene escape that blends timeless charm with modern elegance.

Paying homage to the historic propertys character, the recent refurbishment retained the original architecture, including the wood panelling around the lobby fireplace, the hand-crafted staircase and the first-floor landing.

Infusing a touch of modern elegance, the renovation sees the introduction of contemporary touches such as herringbone floors that echoed the originals, chandeliers, bespoke wallpapers and handpicked artworks to create a luxurious yet cosy atmosphere.

Dutch-born Max and proud Captonian Shelagh, who took over in mid-2023, have revitalised the property with a sense of approachable luxury, emphasising comfort and sophistication which can easily be seen in its collection of guest rooms and suites.
