The KwaXolo Caves Adventures site on the KwaZulu-Natal KZN South Coast is undergoing an R8million 404000 expansion aimed at enhancing rural tourism and attracting investment. Located near Margate, Southbroom and Port Edward, the site features San rock art, scenic gorges and waterfalls. New developments are set to further establish it as a key adventure and heritage destination.

The expansion is being led by the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority in partnership with the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs and Tourism KwaZulu-Natal.

Phase one, completed in January 2025, included a reception building, meeting hall, parking, paved pathways, water and sewerage systems and a pedestrian bridge.

Phase two, currently underway, will introduce a restaurant, coffee shop and additional visitor facilities. Adventure elements include a 1km zipline and a high-wire bridge funded with R4million 202000 from Idwala Group.

Looking ahead, phase three will involve the construction of 10 luxury chalets, an amphitheatre and a 100-seater hall positioning KwaXolo Caves Adventures as a MICE destination.
