The Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says 73% of crimes committed in the country including extortion happen in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
He has revealed that police shot and killed four and wounded other suspected extortionists in Milnerton in Cape Town recently.
Mchunu delivered his statement in the National Assembly yesterday, outlining the polices plan of action to deal with extortion.
Police of course led by the ministry are hard at work fighting these crimes on a daily basis. Amongst the recent operations is where suspects identified through intelligence as extortionists were confronted in Milnerton in Cape Town.
Four suspects were fatally wounded in a shootout with police while four were admitted in hospital with would and two ran away and escaped, added Mchunu.
