43-year-old Male Fatally Shot Opposite The Athlone Magistrate Court

Detectives from the Athlone SAPS unit are still on the scene, combing the area for clues after the 43-year-old was shot and fatally wounded this afternoon, reports Cape town Etc .

Preliminary reports have revealed that the deceased was sitting on the pavement in Lower Klipfontein Road, when an unidentified male appeared and fired several gunshots, aimed at the deceased.

SAPS has reported that the man died on the scene due to the injuries sustained.

A murder case has been opened for investigation by the Athlone Police Department and as it stands, the motive behind the shooting remains unknown.

The suspect fled the scene and has not yet been arrested.
