2026 Wcq: It Is Fight To Finish Owolabi

A member of the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winning Green Eaglesnow Super Eagles Dr Feliz Owolabi has said the national team should not be dismissed yet from the race for a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In an interview with Sports Vanguard, Dr Owolabi insisted that nothing is impossible. If God says we will be at the next World Cup, nobody can stop us.

He called on the players to rise to the occasion. What is very important for me as a footballer and as somebody who has seen it all, from now on, is to fight to finish. There is always room for improvement. For now let us pray that for the rest of our matches we should be able to excel and do better than we have done in the past.

He emphasised that the players must brace up and change their mindset and mentality. They must ensure that for the rest of their matches we must excel.

He said critics should stop attacks on coach Eric Chelle. Everything is not about the coach, the players too have a responsibility that they give the best and nothing but the best.
