17-year-old Suspect To Appear In Court Over Police Officers Killing
A 17-year-old suspect is due to appear in the Nerina Youth Justice Centre in Gqeberha today on charges related to the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old police constable.
Constable Callan Andrews was gunned down on New Years eve after he stopped to push his broken-down service vehicle.
Hawks spokesperson Ndimphiwe Mhlakuvana says the suspect was arrested on Saturday along with an 18-year-old suspect who will appear soon in the magistrates court in Gelvandale.
The two suspects will face charges of murder and robbery.
Mhlakuvana says the state has a strong case.
