16 All Out! Proteas U19 Women Overpower Newcomers Samoa At T20 World Cup
South Africa's U19 Women thrashed Samoa by a commanding 10 wickets on Monday after bowling them out for a paltry 16 to top Group C in the U19 T20 World Cup at Borneo Cricket Ground in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Chasing a mere 17 to win, openers Jemma Botha 6 and Simon Lourens 6 chased the target in only 10 balls.
It was the lowest innings total in U19 T20 World Cup history.
The Proteas won the toss and opted top bowl first, setting up a masterclass led by Nthabiseng Nini 3/4, who struck with the first ball of the innings as she bowled opener Norah Jade Salima for a duck.
It was carnage in the middle for the minnow team - playing in their first U19 World Cup - as the brilliance of Nini and Fay Cowling 2/4, Seshnie Naidu 2/0 and Kayla Reyneke 2/5 ripped Samoa apart.
