Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says over 13 000 Gauteng traffic wardens have been deployed to fight crime in the streets of Gauteng.
He says three helicopters will be made available to strengthen the fight against crime this festive season.
Lesufi says the heightened police visibility will help prevent, combat and counter serious and violent crime during the holiday season and beyond.
We remain excited that the festive season will be a safe one as we have accepted the plans that have been given to us by law enforcement agencies. We are also strengthening our drug abuse system in particular eliminating illegal shebeens or institutions selling alcohol without proper licenses. Our safety plan for December is to tackle heists and aggravated robbery and to ensure that entertainment areas are safe.
