10 Years Since Meyiwa Was Gunned Down, Family Seeks Closure

Today is the 10th anniversary of the gunning down of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa . He was killed while visiting his then-girlfriend, popular singer Kelly Khumalo , at her family home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, on the evening of October the 26th 2014.

It took six years to make arrests, and eight years before the trial started in the High Court in Pretoria. Two years into the trial, the court has yet to reach a verdict on the five men accused of the footballers murder. All the accused have denied involvement in the killing.

Meanwhile, the deceaseds cousin Nomalanga Meyiwa says she is confident that the truth will soon be revealed. She was speaking in an exclusive interview with SABC News senior reporter Chriselda Lewis.

Meyiwas family says finding out what really happened to their loved one would give them closure, as Nomalanga explains, He was playing for big teams so that makes us proud of him. We wish there could be something tangible about what happened to him so we can find peace knowing what happened the day Senzo was killed.
