1 200 Posts To Be Opened For Unemployed Doctors: Motsoaledi
Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says 1 200 posts will soon be opened up for unemployed doctors in the country.
He was addressing the media at Centurion in Pretoria. The sector continues to face immense pressure due to ageing infrastructure and staff shortages.
At present, over 1 800 qualified doctors remain without work.
Motsoaledi says the Human Resources Department will soon resume with processes.
"We believe we are in a position today to announce to you today that the council has approved advertisement of 1 200 jobs for doctors, 200 nurses and 250 other healthcare professionals at a high cost of R1,78 billion. Human Resources will soon commence with recruitment processes once logistics has been finalized.
